The mobile scenario influence on DTN routing
نویسندگان
چکیده
Delay Tolerant Networks (DTNs) focus on scenarios where most of the time contemporaneous end-to-end paths between source and destination do not exist, and mobility should be explored for message delivery. In this paper, we classify the common scene by the regularity of the nodes into six scenarios, then compare the performance of common DTN routing protocols at different scenarios by simulation. We discuss the influence of scenario for each protocol. And we also discuss the buffer size and transmission range's influence. Our work is helpful for new DTN routing protocl's design and analysing.

Energy-Aware Probabilistic Epidemic Forwarding Method in Heterogeneous Delay Tolerant Networks
Due to the increasing use of wireless communications, infrastructure-less networks such as Delay Tolerant Networks (DTNs) should be highly considered. DTN is most suitable where there is an intermittent connection between communicating nodes such as wireless mobile ad hoc network nodes. In general, a message sending node in DTN copies the message and transmits it to nodes which it encounters. A...
متن کاملOn the Performance of Delay-Tolerant Routing Protocols in Intermittently Connected Mobile Networks
Delay-Tolerant Networks are used to enable communication in challenging environments where nodes are intermittently connected, and an end-to-end path does not exist all the time between source and destination, e.g., Intermittently Connected Mobile Networks (ICMNs). Therefore, network environments, where the nodes are characterized by opportunistic connectivity, are appropriately modeled as Dela...
متن کاملOn the Performance of Delay–Tolerant Routing Protocols in Underwater Networks
The underwater acoustic channel features long and variable propagation delay, high bit error rate and limited bandwidth. Moreover, underwater mobile networks consisting of Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs) for surveillance and monitoring applications often suffer from intermittent connectivity as nodes move around the area of operations. Therefore, this scenario is appropriately modeled as ...
متن کاملOverview of Hybrid MANET-DTN Networking and its Potential for Emergency Response Operations
Communication networks for emergency response operations have to operate in harsh environments. As fixed infrastructures may be unavailable (e.g., they are destroyed or overloaded), mobile ad-hoc networks (MANETs) are a promising solution to establish communication for emergency response operations. However, networks for emergency responses may provide diverse connectivity characteristics which...
متن کاملA Novel Multi Copy Routing Scheme for Delay Tolerant Networks
A delay tolerant network (DTN) is a network designed to operate effectively over extreme distances such as those encountered in space communications or on an interplanetary scale. In such an environment, long latency -sometimes measured in minutes, hours or days -is inevitable. However, similar problems can also occur over more modest distances when interference is extreme or the network resour...
